Description of Position | Early Childhood and Infant & Toddler interns work closely with trained Montessori Head Teachers to provide a caring, nurturing learning environment for children. The intern helps children acquire independence skills and discover their abilities. Responsibilities include safely and competently supervising children at all times, during inside and outside play, at nap time, and during transitions. You'll be assisting children with activities of daily living (eating, toileting, dressing, falling asleep at nap), choosing activities, and putting their things away when finished, comforting children, reading stories, singing songs, helping to keep the classroom environment tidy, assisting the children as they gain independence in the classroom, participating by singing during circle time, interacting with parents, and being part of a team of teachers. Interns have numerous opportunities to apply and refine their newly acquired skills, including working directly with children using Montessori materials, observing and documenting their observations, preparing and maintaining the environment, and supporting children's social and emotional development. |
