Description of Position

POSITION HOURS
Year round: full school year + summer program
School breaks light work responsibilities as needed
Paid Time off: Winter Break, 1 week off in the summer + 10 PTO to be used throughout the school year
Access to Collective Kinds menstruation PTO and birthday PTO policy

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Teacher Guide
-Interview and onboard any staff joining mid-year with founding and administrative team
-Contribute trainings during August Back to School Staff Week for all CK staff
-Supervise and coach classroom teachers, including: leading bi-weekly one-on-one check-in meetings on classroom work and career goals; weekly all school staff meetings including work on curriculum, specific student needs, teaching team dynamics, and bi-weekly mini-professional development; classroom observations of staff; keeping classroom experiences in line with Collective Kind’s anti-bias and nature-based curriculum.
-Build a collaborative and supportive school team through transparent communication, constructive feedback for growth, and understanding.

Families
-Lead communication with school families including supporting all families through separation and phase-in at the start of school
-Build a close relationship based on trust and transparency.

Students
-Create a learning environment that is welcoming for and supportive of neurotypical and neurodivergent children, respectful of the child and supports the development of independence, concentration, coordination and care of self, community and the environment.
-Collaborate with Director of Education in observation of students who might need additional support, integrating service providers into classroom, support families in accessing and maintaining learning services through EI/CPSE/Private Providers.

School Systems
-Maintain onsite school paperwork and records following Department of Health requirements for all staff and children. Paperwork gathered and updated by CK administrative team.
-Oversee daily school maintenance including cleaning, school supplies, classroom organization, communication with weekly professional cleaning service as needed, care of school entrance, sidewalk and yard. Other maintenance will be managed in collaboration with administration staff.
-Leader of school systems including but not limited to: health checks; attendance; conferences; school events (Back-to-School Orientation, Fall + Spring CK wide celebrations in collaboration with all School Directors, curriculum night, EOY party).
Collaborate with director at sibling school (Clermont) for teacher swaps, skills and resource sharing across both schools.

Enrollment
-Host school tours for applying families during “enrollment season”. Rest of enrollment process lead by CK administrative team.
-Re-enroll returning families in collaboration with administration staff

COMPENSATION
2024-25 Compensation minimum $60,000
Salaries are determined by Collective Kind’s Salary Band which takes into account years working with children, experience in special domain areas, your time with us, and what you’re impacting within and beyond the organization.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE
Must meet Department of Health requirements to School Director position:
Hold a New York State Teacher Certification in either: (1) Birth – 2nd Grade; (2) 1st – 6th Grade; (3) N – 6th Grade or (4) PreK – 6th Grade, AND have: at least two years of experience as a group teacher in a program for children under six years of age
Worked in a progressive preschool setting
Been in a leadership position
Experience working with neurodivergent children
Knowledge of/Experience with Montessori Curriculum, a plus
Spanish speaking, a plus

School Community

Collective Kind provides mindful and ethical early care for working families of all backgrounds. Our Montessori programs are nature-based and grounded in anti-bias education with the family and community at the center. Our micro preschools are open to children 2-5YOS. Tuition is run on a sliding scale so that our program can be financially accessible to more families.

Rogers school team includes:
Two (2) full time morning teachers/class 8:00-4:00 (class 8:30-3:30)
One (1) school director
Administrative and curricular support from Collective Kind’s founding team and administrative staff
