Description of Position

Responsibilities:
* Provide a high standard of care and teaching to students during school hours, including vigilance around both safety and learning
* Advise parents in partnership with the Associate/Assistant Teacher
* Be in attendance at school in accordance with the times set forth in the letter of agreement
* Prepare lessons along the designated subject areas in accordance with the curriculum of Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, its mission, and Montessori philosophy
* Develop, review, and update curriculum and extensions as needed in conjunction with the Associate/Assistant Teacher and with collaborating teachers in the Early Childhood program
* Maintain a prepared environment in the classroom and other areas used for instruction
* Maintain student records with regard to attendance, achievement, and report writing, with support and assistance as needed from the Associate/Assistant teacher
* Preparate reports for parents in accordance with the established policies of Brooklyn Heights Montessori School
* Prepare for and lead regular parent-teacher conferences as set forth on the school calendar, in partnership with the Associate/Assistant teacher
* Attend and participate in various evening meetings, such as Back-to-School Night, Parent Education, and Community events
* Attend and participate in regularly scheduled program-level, faculty, and faculty and staff meetings
* Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with students, parents, and other teachers and school personnel
* Comply with the established policies and procedures of Brooklyn Heights Montessori School as stated in the Faculty & Staff Handbook
* Model as fully as possible the values in the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School Mission Statement, Diversity Statement, and Community Norms
* Perform various reasonable tasks from time to time as requested by the Head of School or the Director of Early Childhood Programs.

The Early Childhood Lead Teacher is a full-time, 10-month position. The Early Childhood Lead Teacher will work in conjunction with their Early Childhood Associate/Assistant Teacher(s), the Director of Early Childhood Programs, the Early Childhood teaching team, the School Psychologist, the Early Childhood Learning Specialist, the Assistant Head of School, and the Head of School to educate and support Early Childhood students in accordance with the principles of Montessori educational philosophy and practices, and the mission, the curriculum, and the policies of Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher assists the Head Teacher with the teaching of Practical Life, Language, Sensorial, Math, Science, and Geography studies, along with community, emotional, and interpersonal skills.

The salary range is $75,000-$79,000 commensurate with experience, qualifications and aligned with the school’s financial landscape.

Qualifications

Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree required
* Master’s Degree preferred
* AMS/MACTE Approved EC Montessori teaching credential required
* Three years' teaching experience minimum
