Description of Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori General Studies Lower Elementary Co-Lead to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will collaborate closely with both a General Studies Lead and Judaic Studies Lead in our dual-curriculum school, in a dynamic, child-centered classroom and environment that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a love of learning. This extremely competitively paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence young learners’ academic and social growth through innovative teaching methods rooted in Montessori philosophy and best practices in childhood development. The right candidate is flexible within the Montessori practice to also allow for religious studies throughout the day integrated into the traditional Montessori Classroom curriculum. We’re looking for an extremely warm, dynamic teacher who can truly treat each child as an individual with tremendous potential and worth. In our school, teachers put the child’s needs above all else and will dedicate themselves to finding how to best reach each child to unlock their potential and nurture the whole child. The teacher has and fosters in the classroom a joyful mindset and approaches each day with a smile.

General Studies Responsibilities:

- Lead a number of small-group general studies lessons each day (e.g. reading group, handwriting, spelling, math lessons)
- Provide individual instruction as needed in reading, writing, and math
- Support students in independent work during the Montessori work cycle; help maintain quite, calm atmosphere in the classroom
- Administer spelling quizzes and math facts drill
- Collaborate with General Studies teacher to discuss student progress, write progress reports, and communicate with parents
- Work closely with the Lower Elementary teaching team to plan curriculum, build classroom culture, and create a warm, nurturing learning environment
- Use positive discipline practices, helping students develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, and mutual respect
- Support students who struggle with resilience or need help navigating challenges, encouraging a growth mindset

Additional Classroom Responsibilities:

- Support classroom routines and transitions throughout the day, including arrival, lunch, and recess
- Prepare classroom materials and help organize the environment
- Participate in special events, bulletin board displays, and field trip planning
- Maintain open communication with the teaching team about student needs and classroom dynamics

Qualifications

Prior classroom experience in elementary education or Montessori settings is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.
Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and working with individuals with disabilities or special needs.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, families, and students.
Private school experience or previous Montessori training is a plus but not required; ongoing professional development in Montessori pedagogy is encouraged. Join us in inspiring young minds through innovative teaching practices rooted in respect for each child's unique learning journey!

Salary$60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

The girl’s school (known as Breuer’s) has a mixed-age 1st-3rd-grade dual-curriculum Montessori classroom and is seeking a full-time co-teacher for General Studies.
