Description of Position

Position Overview
We are seeking a warm, collaborative, and experienced Montessori Lead Teacher to guide a mixed-age classroom in a thoughtfully prepared environment. The ideal candidate is committed to Montessori practice, respectful classroom leadership, and fostering independence, concentration, and a love of learning in young children.
This role requires strong classroom management, clear communication, and alignment with the values and structure of a child centered approach.

Responsibilities:
-Lead a small class of 12-14 students in a 3-6 primary Montessori classroom.
-Prepare and maintain the environment to support learning.
-Observe students and develop curriculum to meet needs of students.
-Make a monthly plan to introduce new works based on observations.
-Present Montessori lessons and materials in accordance with child readiness and developmental sequence.
-Create process based art projects for the children each week
-Support children’s independence, concentration, grace and courtesy, and social-emotional development
-Observe and document student progress
-Guide and collaborate with assistant and support staff to ensure a calm and cohesive classroom environment
-Communicate professionally and respectfully with families
-Take photos and send weekly updates to parents
-Participate in parent conferences, school events, and staff meetings
-Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and material care
-Follow school policies, procedures, and program standards consistently.

Schedule:
8:30-3:00 with additional time for planning and meetings

Qualifications

Qualifications:
-Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, MACTE-accredited, or equivalent) strongly preferred
-Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred
-Experience leading a Montessori classroom
-Strong understanding of Montessori pedagogy and material sequencing

Requirements:
-Ability to perform essential physical duties of the classroom including lifting children, sitting on the floor, kneeling, etc.
-Background check and applicable state clearances required
-CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
-Anti-bias training (preferred)
-Reliable attendance and punctuality
-Commitment to maintaining professional standards in a parent-facing school environment
