| Description of Position | The Montessori Day School of Brooklyn is seeking a joyful and passionate Early Childhood Head Teacher to lead one of our toddler classrooms and teaching teams. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Montessori professional who embodies warmth, vibrancy, and compassion, dedicated to fostering a rich and joyful learning environment for young children.
Responsibilities
• Design, prepare, and maintain an emotionally responsive, nurturing, accepting, and safe classroom environment that provides both independent and social learning opportunities tailored to meet the varying needs of the students.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Montessori curriculum aligned with the school's philosophy and AMS standards.
• Lead and collaborate effectively with the teaching team, providing mentorship and guidance to assistant teachers.
• Conduct regular observations and assessments of student progress, maintaining detailed records.
• Lead and facilitate family conferences and prepare comprehensive end-of-year narrative reports, communicating effectively with parents about student growth and development.
• Attend all faculty meetings and actively participate in professional development opportunities, staying current with best practices in Montessori education.
• Collaborate with administration on student growth plans and curriculum enhancements.
• Model positive behavior and uphold the Montessori principles in all interactions with children, colleagues, and parents.

| Qualifications | Qualifications
• Montessori teacher certification (AMS or equivalent) in Infant/Toddler or Early Childhood preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of lead teaching experience in a Montessori preschool program, preferably in an AMS-accredited environment.
• Deep understanding and extensive knowledge of Early Childhood development and education, particularly within the Montessori philosophy.
• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a meticulously prepared learning environment.
• Enthusiastic about working with small children in a mixed-age classroom.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a teaching team effectively.
• Growth mindset and a proactive problem-solving approach.
• Experience working in a diverse and inclusive setting.
• Strong desire for continuous professional growth and development.
• Proficiency in technology (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google apps, School Communication apps i.e., Tadpoles, ParentSquare, BrightWheel).
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with team members, parents, and administrators.
