Description of Position

Ridgewood, Queens | Full-Time (40 hours/week) | Starting August 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time co-teacher for our primary classroom (ages 2.5–4 years old). This position is ideal for a Montessori teacher in their practicum year or a recently certified Montessori educator who is eager to grow and learn in a collaborative and supportive setting. You will work alongside an AMS-certified lead teacher and an experienced teaching team that values mentorship and professional development.

Your Responsibilities
• Create and maintain a peaceful, respectful classroom environment that fosters kindness and care for all living things
• Co-plan and implement an engaging Montessori curriculum, tailored to students’ interests and independence
• Model and reinforce Montessori principles throughout the school day
• Ensure classroom and student safety at all times, both indoors and outdoors
• Lead and supervise daily outdoor learning experiences, including walks and outdoor play time in public parks
• Maintain clear, open communication with families and the wBees teaching team
• Observe, document, and reflect on student progress to support individualized learning
• Prepare mid-year and end-of-year reports, portfolios, and conference notes based on student observations
• Participate in parent education events, such as Curriculum Night and Deep Dive into Curriculum
• Contribute to an equitable team dynamic that prioritizes a horizontal structure, fostering collaboration and shared decision-making
• Participate in professional development opportunities, such as online trainings, DOH mandated trainings, staff meetings, and individualized learning, to support both personal and team growth
• Maintain a professional, trustworthy, and respectful relationship with co-workers and wBees families

Qualifications

Who You Are
• Passionate about early childhood education and child-led learning
• In the practicum year of Montessori certification or recently certified
• Knowledgeable about the primary Montessori curriculum and social-emotional learning in preschool-aged children
• 2 + years of experience working with young children (ages 2-5)
• Passionate about teaching children with different learning styles and creating an environment that is responsive to the needs of all children
• Organized, punctual, and reliable, with a willingness to learn and adapt
• A strong communicator, fostering a positive connection between school and home. Transparent, proactive, and communicative with co-workers and administration.
• Enthusiastic about outdoor learning, exploring nature, and engaging children in their local environment— in all weather!
• Committed to a growth mindset, self-reflection, and professional development
• Dedicated to creating a nurturing, socially and emotionally rich classroom environment

Requirements to Apply
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Background checks and health clearances are required before the start date
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

SalaryCompetitive salary based on experience and qualifications - $45-$60k with health, dental, vision, and 401k + paid time off and holidays
