Collective Kind provides mindful and ethical early care for working families of all backgrounds. Our Montessori programs are nature-based and grounded in anti-bias education with the family and community at the center. Our 2022-23 schools are open to children 2-5YOS with 12 children/class. Tuition is run on a sliding scale so that our program can be financially accessible to more families.
Each school team includes:
Two (2) full time morning teachers 8:00-4:00 (class 8:30-3:30)
One (1) full time afternoon teacher 10:00-6:00
One (1) part time afternoon teacher 3:00-6:00
One (1) school director 8:00-4:00
Administrative and curricular support from Collective Kind’s founding team

2023-24 POSITION
September 2023 - June 2024 following school calendar breaks
Hours Monday-Friday, 8:00-1:00 PM

Compensation Based on pay scale - salaried PT up to $31/hour
Responsibilities include:
Creating a learning environment that is welcoming for and supportive of all types of learners, respectful of the child and supports the development of independence, concentration, coordination and care of self, community and the environment.
Building a collaborative and supportive teaching team based on clear communication where all teachers are able to shine and learn.
Lesson planning following Collective Kind anti-bias and nature-based curriculum.
Being reliable (on time and consistent), taking care of the classroom environment (daily tidying and cleaning), changing diapers for children not yet toilet trained.
Equitable, warm and understanding communication (emails, meetings and phone calls) with families.
Modeling kind interactions with our greater community.
Receiving and providing feedback so that your school team can learn and grow together.
Observation and documentation of the children’s experiences through video, photos and written notes.
Writing weekly posts to ClassDojo for families to share a deeper view into work happening in the classroom.
Experience:
We are looking for a teacher who has
Previous experience working in a Preschool classroom
PREFERRED NYC Early Childhood Teacher Certification; or a BA in ECE or related field with two years relevant supervised and documented experience; or a Study Plan toward completion
Montessori Certification/Experience
Special Education experience is a plus
Has leadership experience

Salaries are determined by Collective Kind’s compensation table which takes into account education background and years of experience in a preschool classroom.
