Summer Camp

WSMS Summer Camp classrooms are led by WSMS teachers, allowing us to offer the same level of exceptional programming that is offered during the year. Children find comfort and consistency in continuing the philosophy and curriculum at WSMS, and enjoy the familiarity of friends or teachers, classroom environments, routines and the use of the gym and roof.

During camp, children are given opportunities to expand upon their interests in ways that are not usually offered during the school year. For example, in past years, summer camp has welcomed visitors including musicians, a puppeteer, a soccer coach and a magician. Children also take day trips inspired by their interests, such as the local fire station, exhibits at the Children Museum of Manhattan, local gardens, parks, and – of course – the sprinklers! Swim lessons through SwimJim are included for returning children. Please note that children from this year’s Twos program will be included in Multi-Age classrooms. Summer Camp is included in the 11-month LAP program.

Vacation Schools

Spring and Winter Vacation Schools are mini-programs consistent with our ongoing philosophy held during the school’s winter and spring breaks. Vacation Schools make full use of our gym, rooftop, classrooms and the park when possible. Vacation schools are open to all currently enrolled children, but children must be registered to attend. Enrollment is closed when we reach capacity.

Winter Vacation School is a five or six day mini-camp held over winter break. Spring Vacation School is a ten-day mini-camp held over spring break, typically the last two weeks of March. Spring Vacation School is offered in two five-day sessions.

During vacation schools, we offer options for AM, 9-3 and LAP. Early drop-off and lunch are available. There is no 6:00 p.m. pick-up during vacation schools. Please note that vacation schools are included in the 11-month LAP program.
