Description of Position | Reports to: The Director of Early Childhood Programs Brief Description: The Early Childhood Lead Teacher is a full-time, 10-month position. The Early Childhood Lead Teacher will work in conjunction with their Early Childhood Associate/Assistant Teacher(s), the Director of Early Childhood Programs, the Early Childhood teaching team, the School Psychologist, the Early Childhood Learning Specialist, the Assistant Head of School, and the Head of School to educate and support Early Childhood students in accordance with the principles of Montessori educational philosophy and practices, and the mission, the curriculum, and the policies of Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher assists the Head Teacher with the teaching of Practical Life, Language, Sensorial, Math, Science, and Geography studies, along with community, emotional and interpersonal skills. The Early Childhood Lead Teacher will report directly to the Director of Early Childhood Programs. They will meet with the Associate/Assistant Teacher on a regular basis to collaborate, plan, and to document and share student observations.
